ONE
Believing
that the ancient philosophies, laws and cultures of our Native nations are the reason for
our survival against overwhelming odds, we work with Native American communities, leaders,
elders and youth to exchange values and ideas in advocating in international forums;
TWO
Believing
that our communities have the wisdom to resolve our own issues, we assist Native American
communities, leaders, elders and youth in communicating their perspectives and issues in
international forums;
THREE
Honoring
our own heritage, we are particularly dedicated to emphasizing the Lakota (Sioux) and
Haudenosaunee (Iroquois, Six Nations Confederacy) worldview by providing support to our
leadership and supporting community organizing efforts;
FOUR
Utilizing
our two decades of international experience and relationships with Indigenous peoples
worldwide, we endeavor to build consensus and cooperation within the International
Indigenous Peoples Caucus at the United Nations and the Organization of American States;
FIVE
Utilizing
our expertise in international law and forums and our lifelong exposure to Native American
values, we are committed to using our resources to provide technical assistance, capacity
building, research, background and historical data to our Native American communities,
Indigenous leaders, Indigenous caucus participants as well as to our allies and supporter
in international forums;
SIX
Respecting
that our work is for generations yet to come, we place particular emphasis on supporting
the organizing efforts of Indigenous youth and
women,
SEVEN
In
all that we do, we remember the leaders that have gone before us and seek justice, peace,
and equality by humbly carrying their words and wisdom within us in all our strategies for the
benefit of Indigenous peoples.
