responsibilities and commitments

in fulfilling our responsiblities and commitments we focus on:

 ONE

Believing that the ancient philosophies, laws and cultures of our Native nations are the reason for our survival against overwhelming odds, we work with Native American communities, leaders, elders and youth to exchange values and ideas in advocating in international forums;

 TWO

Believing that our communities have the wisdom to resolve our own issues, we assist Native American communities, leaders, elders and youth in communicating their perspectives and issues in international forums;

 THREE

Honoring our own heritage, we are particularly dedicated to emphasizing the Lakota (Sioux) and Haudenosaunee (Iroquois, Six Nations Confederacy) worldview by providing support to our leadership and supporting community organizing efforts;

 FOUR

Utilizing our two decades of international experience and relationships with Indigenous peoples worldwide, we endeavor to build consensus and cooperation within the International Indigenous Peoples Caucus at the United Nations and the Organization of American States;

 FIVE

Utilizing our expertise in international law and forums and our lifelong exposure to Native American values, we are committed to using our resources to provide technical assistance, capacity building, research, background and historical data to our Native American communities, Indigenous leaders, Indigenous caucus participants as well as to our allies and supporter in international forums;

 SIX

Respecting that our work is for generations yet to come, we place particular emphasis on supporting the organizing efforts of  Indigenous youth and women,

 SEVEN

In all that we do, we remember the leaders that have gone before us and seek justice, peace, and equality by humbly carrying their words and wisdom within us in all our strategies for the benefit of Indigenous peoples.
